Reader’s review of Anxiety & Depression (Sheldon Mindfulness) on Amazon

As a student of Psychology and somebody who has suffered with depression most of my life, I’m always looking for new literature to help me understand more in this field as well as finding coping strategies I can use. ‘Anxiety and Depression’ is unlike any other book I have read before. It explores the two areas (and the mental health field as a whole) from a mindfulness approach, giving information, advice, exercises, practical tools and even audio material to accompany your reading in a professional, approachable and detailed manner.
I connected with this book on a deep, personal level as it felt like a genuinely useful guide to applying mindfulness to everyday life, rather than the often unhelpful psychological jargon found in similar book. Dr. Rezek has developed the ‘Life Happens’ model using a mixture of the mindfulness technique and her own psychological experience to encourage people to understand that sometimes life just happens and we must build a resilience towards the challenges it may throw at us and live in the present moment, being mindful of everything around us.
With a strong focus on mindfulness, the guide covers anxiety and depression in a helpful, realistic manner that is easy to understand but that doesn’t patronise the reader. I would strongly recommend reading this book, whether or not you suffer from anxiety or depression, it is a useful tool for gaining a better understanding of both the mental health issues that are explored and the mindfulness practice in itself.
Everybody can take something away from this book and I will certainly be recommending it personally to the people in my life. http://bit.ly/1OhEwnx
