Mindfulness Initiative - Implementing Mindfulness in Schools: An Evidence-Based Guide (2021)
Did you know:
-
- Half of all mental health conditions start by 14 years of age but most cases are undetected and untreated (World Health Organisation) and
- prevention is key and should start before the age of 10, at the latest?
Dynamic, fun and clinically sound
This exciting and unique programme has been borne out of my extensive clinical experience with both children and adults and the ever-growing pressures that children face today.

- children struggling to know how to set boundaries and where to set them.

- no preparation required
- ready for immediate delivery
- all information provided, even the questions to explore
- a step-by-step approach

Content
- wide range of topics
- conforms to PSHE requirements.
The topics covered in this programme have not been chosen at random: they are part of what lay the foundations of good mental health and emotional stability. They refer to the separate areas of our lives that come together to help create a resilient and integrated individual who can develop his or her internal resources in order to flourish in life, now and in the future.
The programme provides a wealth of knowledge to ensure that the children:
- learn about mindfulness - what it is and how to develop it
- learn awareness of themselves
- develop skills on how to manage emotions, difficult times and life experiences.
They are offered encouragement and assistance on how to:
- set boundaries
- worry less
- build resilience and resourcefulness
- protect themselves and
- show compassion and kindness.
Giving children this opportunity to find and use their own sense of responsibility and control in their lives is fundamental to their long-term ability to feel equipped to deal with the ever-changing face of life.
Delivery Time & Process
The programme has been designed with three key features in mind: flexibility, no preparation and ease of use.
- Delivered as a Power Point presentation, giving teachers control over the choice of session and the speed of slide progression allowing for adaptation to the class’ requirements and understanding.
- Accompanying Teacher’s Manual.
- Easily identifiable Book Icon to indicate when to refer to the manual for instructions.
- 42 sessions, covering approximately 30 hours of input.
- Sessions vary in delivery time to fit into the demands of a busy school day.
- Flexibility to extend, shorten or repeat sessions.
Low Technology Requirements
- Computer with Power Point facility
- White wall or board.
Cost Effective
- £495.00 plus a yearly renewal fee of £50.00 (signed commitment required)
- a one-off fee of £800.00 with no annual fee.
- available consultancy for free on any aspects of the programme such as mindfulness, tasks, and delivery.
Example: The cost for an average primary school of two classes per year (around 250 children) equates to £1.98 per child for the entire programme. For a new intake of Year 3 children (around 62 children), the annual renewal fee to cover this is 81 pence per child. If the school has more children, the cost is even less per child.

ADAPTED FOR ONLINE USE TOO:
The exciting news is that the programme, which is 42 sessions in Power Point, has now been redesigned so that you can send it out to parents either as separate sessions with the relevant manual page(s) in Power Point, or as a specially designed PDF. which will also be in separate sessions that include the slides and manual page(s) but in a flat, printable version.
Alternatively, if you are undertaking lessons via online platforms or virtual classrooms, teachers can go through the session slides while being videoed just as they would in a classroom. They can move from slide to slide at their own pace and use the manual as they normally would. The tasks can be set for the children in the video, sent out by email or via the online platform that you’re using.
No training would be required by the teachers or parents, so it is an excellent way for both carers and children to become familiar with, or enhance, essential life skills. Once the children return to school the sessions can be continued in a normal format as I will also provide you with the programme in its original formatting. It couldn’t be easier, and it is excellent value for money.
These downloads are provided as Microsoft PowerPoint files, so, please make sure you have the appropriate software to open them. These files should be viewed as a Power Point Slideshow.
(Should the text of the slides overlap when opened on a tablet or iPad, please copy the session into Power Point first before viewing).
